A federal study just published shows that the long term effects of drug treatment for ADHD is neglagible.  The effectiveness of the medication only lasts while the drug is in the system so this ADHD treatment has no long term effects.

Combination therapies that may include medication has proven to be the most effective and longest lasting.  The effects of the treatment can last for as long as the child practises and uses the techniques to control their behavior.  There are times when the child will forget and regress into previous or a comfortable behavior pattern.  At that point they will need refresher sessions.

The most popular of this combination therapies are biofeedback and social skills training.  Some kids require medication to sit still long enough to handle the biofeedback sessions but slowly they will be weened off.  At the end of this particular ADHD treatment the child should show noticeable changes that could last throughout thier life.
