Pharmaceutical or Herbal ADHD Treatments

ADHD is diagnosed in about 4.4 million children in the United States.  Out of those children, 2.5 million are on pharmaceuticals to manage the adhd symptoms.  Medications do not react the same way with everyone  so there are bound to be some troubling side effects.

Side effects of stimulant medications can include weight changes, appetite changes, inomnia and nervous tics.  These side effects are getting parents to look for other treatments to fulfill the needs of their adhd child.   Many parents are turning to some herbal adhd treatments.

Most are looking for natural stimulants that may do the same thing as the medications without most side effects.  Caffeine is one of those.  It has been shown that in high doses it helps but not enough for most severe ADHD children.

Other herbal ADHD Treatments can include gingo biloba, ginseng, gotu kola and other chinese herbs.   These are shown to increase alterness without using caffeine.
